Former Vice President Dick Cheney and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich are among the guests at this year's Mock Convention at Washington and Lee University.
While the tradition is a research project for students to understand the presidential nominee selection process, students have been fairly accurate with picking the correct nominees.
Students have correctly picked candidates 19 times out of 25; they've been correct about the Republican Party since 1948, according to a W&L news release.
The tradition started in 1908 when presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan visited campus, sparking the first Mock Convention. Previous high profile guests include former presidents Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, Harry Truman and Bill Clinton.
In addition to Cheney and Gingrich attending this year, the guest lineup includes Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin (R), U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and political commentator Ann Coulter.
