Voters casting their absentee ballots in Virginia was up more than 18 percent in 2016 compared to the last presidential election in 2012.
Voters in Northern Virginia are leading the way with a 37.6 percent increase this year -- an increase of more than 70,000 votes cast.
The only area in the state that saw a decline was the Richmond area, which saw a 3.4 percent decrease.
Voters in Virginia could cast their ballots through Saturday if they are unable to vote on Election Day on Nov. 8.
Of the more than 538,000 ballots cast so far, 352,842 people cast their ballots in person at their Registrar's Office.
