Now that the national political conventions are over, the 2016 election season is officially into high gear. In less than three months Virginia will take the national spotlight at the vice presidential debate.
Last year, Longwood University in Farmville was awarded the debate, which will now host Virginia's own Tim Kaine and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
"I believe that no campus in America could be more fitting for this remarkable and great responsibility in our democratic process," Longwood University President W. Taylor Reveley IV said on Longwood.edu. "... The energy of this event will run through and invigorate everything we do in preparing the next generation of citizen-leaders for the historic years ahead, which the 2016 election will do so much to shape."
Ahead of the debate, Longwood will be hiring temporary employees to prepare for the debate. The school is hosting a job fair on Sept. 9 to hire workers.
Be sure to visit debate.longwood.edu for information about the job fair and other up-to-date information about the debate. Tickets are not yet available.
