William Jefferson Clinton (D), the 42nd President of the United States will embark on a three day tour of Virginia on behalf of his close friend Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic nominee for Governor of Virginia.
McAuliffe is a long time friend and associate of the Clinton family, raising millions of dollars for Mr. Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's runs for president. Both Clintons have already hosted fundraisers on behalf of McAuliffe in the 2013 election. Mrs. Clinton was the headliner at a public event for McAuliffe on Saturday.
The specific details and logistics have yet to be released, but NBC12 has learned Mr. Clinton will be with McAuliffe on a three day tour of various locations in Virginia starting Sunday October 27th.
Mr. Clinton stumped for McAuliffe in his failed 2009 bid for the Democratic nomination for Governor.
Here is the full release from the McAuliffe campaign on President Clinton's visit to Virginia:
VIRGINIA - On Sunday, October 27 President Bill Clinton will join Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe for a three day tour of campaign events around the Commonwealth. President Clinton will discuss the importance of voting in the 2013 gubernatorial election and the clear choice facing Virginia voters between Terry McAuliffe's mainstream plan to create jobs and invest in education and Ken Cuccinelli's extreme ideological agenda. Event details and locations will be announced.
The Ken Cuccinelli campaign responded to the news of President Clinton's visit with the following statement:
"It's not surprising that Terry McAuliffe, who has been unable to present a positive case for Virginia's future and whose campaign has been nothing but negative and false attacks, needs folks like President Clinton to speak for him. Virginians will not be fooled. There's only one candidate in this race with a credible plan to create 58,000 jobs and ensure our children have access to a quality education: Ken Cuccinelli." -spokesperson Anna Nix
