Democratic candidate for governor Terry McAuliffe will make his first trip to Richmond as a 2013 candidate for governor. McAuliffe who, barring a last minute challenge, appears to have the inside track on the democratic nomination. It is a position he has coveted since falling short in a three way primary back in 2009.
McAuliffe will tour several Richmond based businesses that operate out of Downtown's Corrugated Box Building.

McAuliffe has been busy since Mark Warner passed on a challenge for the democratic nomination. This week he showed up and was given quite a bit of attention at the annual meeting of the Democratic Governor's Association.
Over the weekend he had the opportunity to play golf with his best friend, former President Bill Clinton and the current President Barack Obama. An opportunity not many candidates for governor anywhere in the country would get.
While McAuliffe is certainly in the driver's seat there is still a potential challenge waiting in the wings. Former congressman Tom Perriello has said that he is considering a run for governor, but despite that consideration does not have the infrastructure or the financial resources that McAuliffe has.
The former DNC Chairman is racking up endorsements from legislators and state party leaders. He is doing everything he can to coalesce the support of democrats across the state so that a primary won't happen. It is a problem that he hopes to avoid, especially because Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli appears to have a much easier path to the nomination with the withdrawal of Lt. Governor Bill Bolling. (Cuccinelli still faces a nomination challenge from White House Party Crasher Tareq Salahi)
